Congrats on a great gun! I also own a Shield 40 with no thumb safety. Coated the barrel with Titanium nitride and put Talon grips on it. I highly recommend the Talons.

Thought 1- Shields are a reliable pistol. Thousands of guns are bought, fired, and nary an issue to be found. Like anything else mass produced EVER.... every so often there will be those few guns that bad stuff happens to. Never will make the owner less frustrated or upset... but such is life...

For cleaning the grips, alcohol wipes are best. It's what's recommended by Talon. Any other solvents or chemicals would likely eat away at the adhesive.

It is hard to get that 7th round in my Shield 40, and does take extra force to lock the mag in. My Shield is still pretty new, only had it about 3 months, put about 200 rounds through it. It's been 100% reliable and have not had a single issue firing it. So this mag release thing is small...

If the new holster and changing the placement doesn't work, I'll give them a call. I'd hate to be down my Shield for who knows how long for them to tell me nothing is wrong and blame it on 'user error' haha. For now i'm blaming my thin frame and tail bone!

It doesn't drop the mag while in use, or firing, but the release button is getting pressed enough while tucked in the holster that the mag pops out and is no longer locked in. When loaded fully with the 7 round extended mag, it takes a little extra effort to lock it in, and not much pressure on...
