    New Shield 40 NTS

Congrats on a great gun! I also own a Shield 40 with no thumb safety. Coated the barrel with Titanium nitride and put Talon grips on it. I highly recommend the Talons.

    MP Shield .40 blowing up???

Thought 1- Shields are a reliable pistol. Thousands of guns are bought, fired, and nary an issue to be found. Like anything else mass produced EVER.... every so often there will be those few guns that bad stuff happens to. Never will make the owner less frustrated or upset... but such is life...

Picking up my new Shield this morning

Congrats on a great decision! The Shield is a great gun, and with the capacity for 2 more rounds than the G43 in 9mm, pretty much makes it a no brainer for me. One word of caution... inspect the firearm thoroughly before you take it home. I bought my Shield 40 new, did some shooting, and found...

    Talon grips on my Shield

For cleaning the grips, alcohol wipes are best. It's what's recommended by Talon. Any other solvents or chemicals would likely eat away at the adhesive.

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

It is hard to get that 7th round in my Shield 40, and does take extra force to lock the mag in. My Shield is still pretty new, only had it about 3 months, put about 200 rounds through it. It's been 100% reliable and have not had a single issue firing it. So this mag release thing is small...

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to wait and try out my new holster for a bit to make sure that's not the sole reason. 1hatchet, you are correct about my current holster. It's generic, and not made specifically for the Shield, so the coverage isn't as substantial as it could be. I should...

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

If the new holster and changing the placement doesn't work, I'll give them a call. I'd hate to be down my Shield for who knows how long for them to tell me nothing is wrong and blame it on 'user error' haha. For now i'm blaming my thin frame and tail bone!

    Talon grips on my Shield

I'm sure it's been discussed many times here before... but WOW what a difference when I put Talon grips on my Shield 40. Gives me a great handle on it, less slip when firing, and fits the contours of the gun really well. If you don't have them already... get them! you won't be sorry. I...

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

could play a part. I'm right handed, so the release is facing my body. I'm a thin guy, so the weapon sits right near my tailbone. I'm hoping the new holster and slightly different placement solves the issue. Lord knows I don't want to have to keep checking to make sure the mag is secure during...

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

It doesn't drop the mag while in use, or firing, but the release button is getting pressed enough while tucked in the holster that the mag pops out and is no longer locked in. When loaded fully with the 7 round extended mag, it takes a little extra effort to lock it in, and not much pressure on...

    New to the forum

Hey everyone! New member to the forum here, residing in North Carolina. I have 2 S&W's currently.. and probably more in the future :) I have a Shield 40, and a Bodyguard 380. So far, nothing but compliments regarding my guns. The trigger pull on the Bodyguard is long, but considering it's...

    Shield- Unintended mag release??

I have a Shield 40 that is my EDC gun. I've noticed on a few occasions that while still in my IWB holster, the mag release has been engaged during regular wear, and the mag has separated from the gun. It doesn't happen every time, but it has happened more than once. The holster in question is a...
