Not having seen many carved Hunters I may be mistaken.
But this seems a little different from the normal Floral designs. Seems like more ferns than flowers.

That is a good remedy but the part that is missing is S&W will not convert it that way.
Any "real" gunsmith should have no problem doing it.
Probably get the whole job done locally for not allot more than just shipping to S&W would run.
It may be a great gun, but I'll never know.
