    Keg of old powder

Found this on one of those other forums. Shows the volumetric use of "Bulk" to replace black powder. Also shows the blond color. Another thing learned while reading about "Bulk" is that the granules are very fragile and like black powder when they fall apart into finer ones the burn rate...

    .44 caliber powder coated wadcutters

Thanks for the reference to Bear Creek Bullets. I had not looked into them before. Their .44 275gr. RNFP looks to be a good candidate for my favored .445 SM and 444 Marlin cartridges. (I use a Cast Performance 260 WFNGC in the .44 Magnum). https://www.bearcreeksupplybullets.com/44-275 Be...

    Raven Rocks Precision

For the record Raven Rocks is one of 2 new USA distributors chosen by Woodleigh bullets to serve those of us here. The other one is http://www.reloadinginternational.com/ Woodleigh is slowly recovering from being mostly destroyed in a fire and their bullets have yet to show up here from...

Range report, unique vs. BE 86

Depends on who's burn rate chart you look at :) 2024 Hodgdon's version shows BE86 as slower than Herco and next to VV N340 and AA #5. That fits with the OP's results.

    Another one bites the dust

The main situation I am sensitive to unburned granules left over, is when shooting revolvers. (I am not much of a pistolero.) When they get under the extraction star, that can bind up the whole gun. Normally a minor annoyance, this can get to be a true bummer in any kind of contest. (looking at...

    500 S&W Mag Powder Suggestions

I was gonna suggest IMR4227. That's the premier powder for the 44 Supermag I load using all bullet weights. You may have to accept somewhat higher than 1200 fps velocity to get the best accuracy and burn of the 4227. Use H4227 data as a start (with the usual start 10% low and work up advice).

    Another one bites the dust

Try Shooters World Ultimate Pistol? Just started reading the latest Handloader last night and right near the beginning Bob Behr's Propellant Profiles covers Shooters World Ultimate Pistol. This powder (Lovex D036-07) allegedly is aimed to replace Unique and would work well with all your...

    Another one bites the dust

Yep. IMR4227 has a digressive burn factor (opposite of progressive) according to QuickLOAD. This makes it nice to work with as you reach maximum pressure (as opposed to say W296 which can spike). You can basically fill the case with powder and know you'll be safe and accurate. You really need...

    Another one bites the dust

H4227 has not been available or sold for years now. It was the ADI powder AR2205. IMR4227 is still made however (in Canada) and Hodgdon has it for the outrageous price of $70/lb. 4227 is quite slow for the rounds you load. It is good in magnum and supermagnum (1.6") revolver rounds. For your...

    New Athlon Doppler Chronograph

Had not heard of the Caldwell option until now. VELOCIRADAR | Caldwell It looks like a slightly smaller version of the LabRadar. The main advantage those 2 have is the downrange velocity tracking. It's also why they have to be bigger. Downrange tracking takes a lot more power and a more...

    New Athlon Doppler Chronograph

Funny there is not a peep or whisper of this unit in Athlon's 2025 catalog: Catalogs - Athlon Optics Curious marketing or vaporware? Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph 707301 For Sale | SHIPS FREE - EuroOptic.com Says it's coming in April 2025. I usually don't like ordering a new...

    Revolver trigger stops

The "eraser/small piece of rubber" trigger stop has worked for me when I felt I needed one. The actual pencil eraser on the Redhawk has lasted for decades. I forget what kind of glue I used it's that old. This method has the advantage of being removable with no holes in the revolver. I also like...

Federal Judge Finds Numerous Maryland Guns Bans Unconstitutional

"U.S. District Judge Gerald L. Russell on August 2, 2024, found numerous Maryland gun bans aimed at concealed carriers to be unconstitutional. After weighing the evidence, Russell sided with plaintiffs and granted Summary Judgment against Maryland's ban on concealed carry on private property...

    Alliant powders what gives ?

Trail Boss may be part of the situation where Hodgdon has been unable to get any powder out of ADI Australia. Trail Boss used to be an ADI powder. Dunno if it still is. The Clays (universal etc.) production line burned down years ago so Hodgdon moved that production to Canada but supplies were...

    New owner for RCBS

Here's the official statement: Hodgdon Powder Company Acquires RCBS Reloading – Hodgdon Powder Company Maybe they can do something about the absence of Huntington's which we all miss. Like importing the Woodleigh bullets.
