Decision...decisions--586 or 66 deal? Need your help!!

Well, folks, I couldn't resist so I went ahead and got the 586. :) I have wanted it longer than I even really knew about the stainless 66. I had wanted an old school looking revolver with wood grips for a long time. When I began getting more familiar with the platform ---and after seeing and...

Decision...decisions--586 or 66 deal? Need your help!!

They're not that readily available in my area. They are also quite expensive for what they are, especially brand new. In northern California, prices all around are quite expensive, and we have crappy gun laws that, among other things, set the price tags higher in most brick and mortars. And, I...

Decision...decisions--586 or 66 deal? Need your help!!

I do not plan on carrying this revolver. It's more of a range gun and home defense as a back-up. I have heard that the L frame will absorb more of the recoil than the K frame 66. That said, I won't be shooting the 357 magnum round a whole lot as it's pretty expensive.

Decision...decisions--586 or 66 deal? Need your help!!

Hello all, I have a local gun shop that is advertising a NIB Smith Model 586 for $699.99, and I have wanted one of these for a while but the normal asking price is usually over $795. Should I jump on this? Equally appealing and available to me is a NIB Smith Model 66 for about $695 from a...

    Model 442 BNIB

How does the bluing finish hold up to sweat, lint, etc. as I plan to ccw it in an IWB holster? CA is pretty dry climate but I've seen reviews on YouTube where dudes say they have to wipe down the gun every night with gun oil to keep it rust free. Is that blued carbon steel cylinder and barrel...

    Model 442 BNIB

I think I'll pick this one up. Shot a friend's 642 last year and had fun with. Little mofo has some kick to it but don't remember it being unpleasant at all. Thanks for your help, y'all!

    Model 442 BNIB

Hi 629shooter: Yes, I believe all revolvers that are offered for sale in CA must have that lock on it from S&W. Rugers, obviously, do not have or need to have it. I guess it's a S&W thing that doesn't apply to other revolvers. The CA DOJ holds S&W to it, though, and will not allow any new...

Yeah, this has the dreaded lawyer lock on it. I'll never use it, though.

Hello all, My local gun shop is running an in-store special for the S&W 442 for $369.99, brand new. That's the cheapest I have seen in any brick 'n mortar in my neck of the woods (I'm in CA, where ALL guns are generally more expensive than in most of the rest of the US). Is this a good...

Are these grips ok for Model 10-14?

Hi all, I'm very new to revolvers here, and I recently picked up the new Classic Model 10-14 for a decent price at my local gun shop. I really like the size, weight, and proportions of the gun, plus the fact that it's a new blued S&W revolver! :) The thing is, it comes stock with the...

    Model 19-3--what's this worth??

Wow! Thanks, raylan007, and others! Thanks so much for your honest opinions. I knew I came to the right place to post these pics and seek assistance! :) I forgot to mention earlier that this gun includes the Pachmyr grips that are shown here but also the original wood grips and a holster. It...
