    Is it safe to shoot this gun? model 37

    I acquired a smith & wesson model 37 in nickel 2 years ago. It has serial number j6xxxxx. Don't know date of manufacture and do know there were some frame crack issues. Would love to carry and shoot this gun. Any info is appreciated on manufacture date and if this gun should NOT be shot...

    thanks for the warm fuzzies! SmithNut....I'll check today where the ports are but I think they are barrel ports. thanks nils edit: they are definately on the barrel not the rib.

    went to the range with my new bully. not a hiccup. cci sv, some old eley SV and winchester t22 standard velocity. oh, and she is sporting a new red dot ultradot. suh-weet! and nice balance with the 5" barrel. n
