    I'm still waiting for the two magazines I sent S&W 6 months ago. They sent me two new followers which still didn't work, then they told me to send them my two magazines which I did. I guess they are sending out the new followers first and those of us who sent in our magazines will have to wait...

    Spoke with S&W today I sent my two defective mags to S&W on Aug 22. I called them today to check on status. The CS rep said that they are waiting for a new shipment of mags and mine would be replaced. He did not offer an explanation of the problem. Sounds like they got a bad shipment of mags...

    The serial # is HACxxxx and the date on the empty cartridge bag is 5/17/2013. If the new followers don't fix the problem, I will probably send it back for them to look at it. It's a shame, I really like the way the gun feels and shoots, although the trigger is very gritty and pull is 6.8lb...

    Yes, Bkreutz, my slide releases do appear to be welded, but upon a closer look under magnification it looks like they welded an "L" shaped doubler around the bend on the thumb release, probably to strengthen the bent part.     My brand new M&P 9mm came with 3 mags. Two of the mags have defective mag followers that don't properly engage the lifting tab on the slide lock lever. They engage just enough to permit the lever to lock the slide back, but I'm sure in time they will wear down the plastic follower and won't lock...
