I have a 66-2, 3" with 3 serial numbers stamped on it. The serial number is stamped on the bottom of the butt as usual, This is AHL with 4 digits. On the crane, along with the 66-2, there is a 3 digit number with an 'X' on each end. There is also an E 24 stamped here. Under the grip, stamped...

Plus 1 on the spent primer idea. I have mod 15 that someone filed too much off of the strain spring screw. I flattened out the inside of a primer cup, capped the screw with it and now it also serves as a brass shoe pushing on the spring.

Thanks for the reply, I am sure they would use the same primer cup material for Pistol and Shotgun. It's worth a try.

Slightly off topic but you guys seem to be in the know. I can use any brand of primers in any of my Smiths, 'K' frames, 'L' frames, 'N' frames, autos, no problem. Regarding primers for shotgun, I bought 1000 Nobel Sport to try them and my Browning BT 100 will not fire half of them, they work...

I have a very tight Mod 36 no dash that is with me a lot, I use it with target loads and standard loads. It would seem to me that it would not hurt this gun to fire 2 or 3 +P's through it in an emergency. Has anyone had any experience with that? Thanks

I carry a Mod 36 with a plastic S&W hip grip, goofy looking thing but it really works. K Frames, L Frames, N Frames, a PPC built on a Mod 67-1 and a Mod 52, all Goodyears.

Thanks, There are some new, no lock 642-1's out now with the +P frame and they must be a hybrid. Does anyone know if they are just clearing out some old frames, or will this be a new model that will be available for a while?
