From what I've heard the price reduction took the place of the rebates.

If you get the 40 you can get the 9 barrel and some 9 mags. You can shoot 9 from your 40. It only goes one way though; you can't go the other way with the 9.

If you have the original box, and it has the fired shells in it, it should have the date on the small envelope. This could be the exact date or very close to date of manufacture. If I remember right: On the original case, look at the sticker, near the bottom right between the 2 bar codes...
