    M41

Yes, I think you are correct, the three spring pack from Wolfe is $24±, probably the easiest first step. TAE Well aware but thanks for trying to save me from a bad situation. I appreciate all of your suggestions but I am confident the gun is not dirty. It’s not the only .22 target pistol I...

    M41

I have an issue w/ my ’85 Model 41. I bought it new, shot it a bunch for the first few years then stuck it in the safe. It’s clean, no dried gunk, no rust, no scratches, still looks exceptional. That is except for the front grip strap, bluing is a bit thin. My issue is it’s turned into a single...

    S&W 17-3 with low 8K serial number

Ok, far from an expert, but, I do have a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 4th Edition. Page 216 under “Engineering and production changes:” • 17-3 1967 Relocation of rear sight leaf screw. • 1968 Delete Diamond grips. • 17-4 1977 Change to put gas ring from yoke to cylinder…...

    AAA Prefix Serial 586 No-Dash

No new information, just confirming what has been said. My 586 no dash (w/ the M) serial # is AAA7286, I purchased this 12 years ago from a gentleman in a parking lot. As has been stated the Standard Catalog of S&W, 4th Edition (p. 491) shows AAA prefix 586s were manufactured in ’80 w/some...

    K/L Frame Target Stocks

Well, I’ve been on the forum for a few years now, not many posts under my belt. I’ve always been a question asker, why step on the toes of folks who actually know something. I bought my first S&W revolver back in, well, when I first joined here. Always been a bit more of a .22 guy and ever...

    Couple 586's and a 686...

Just trying to be clear on the serial number vs DOM range. Your statement above listing AAA0001 through AAB2203 would all seem to be between January and June of 1980? Then your added info, would seem to put at least some of the AAA numbers in the 1981-time frame? I see Nightowl added his...

    Gun Cleaning Tip (Or Not?)

I agree, brake/carb spray cleaners work great for removing crud. I am sure 99% of you know, but in an attempt to help the 1% that may not. Make sure you use the Non chlorinated flavors.

    Looking for Model 17 Opinions

Gentlemen, thanks for the information and the opinions, I appreciate it. Excellent pics of some very nice looking S&Ws. One reason I was leaning toward the full under lug is I have a nice example of a first year 586, thought they would look great together. I am a bit "old school" and prefer...

    Looking for Model 17 Opinions

I have a few Colt revolvers, but I am unwilling to pay the price they are going for currently. So, can I get a few opinions on the Model 17? I am partial to the -6 (full under lug, 6" barrel) but have seen a few threads where the -3 gets votes for the most sought after. I am not fond of the...

    Help With a Model 41

Thanks for the response. Still letting it "soak". Is the problem rust on the threads, or is there a problem with these loosening over time or shooting and maybe someone installed a little loc-tite? I'm guessing it is the conventional "righty tighty, lefty loosy".

    Help With a Model 41

A while back I acquired an older Model 41, 7 3/8" barrel complete with internal weights. Everything is in great condition with the exception of the installed internal weight. It seems to be stuck, I can't remove it. Over the last three days I have been letting Kroil oil soak into the cavity...

Full underlug model 17 six inch

I have been looking for a full underlug 17-6 like "fat tom's" (beautiful). The few nice ones I have seen on the auction sites are well over a grand. Nice guns, but not sure they command that kind of money.
