How well does the S&W Model 69 digest .44 Magnum loads?

So far all I've put through it is full .44 magnum loads. My limit for the Model 69 with .44 magnum is about 50 rounds per range trip. Then it's on to my 9mm or .223 or something like that.

How well does the S&W Model 69 digest .44 Magnum loads?

So I know on some of the older Smith and Wesson .44 magnum models the recommendation was to feed them full magnum loads in moderation. There were evidently some forcing cone issues where there had been damage caused by prolonged use of full .44 magnum loads. It was said that to prevent cracking...

    Had to buy a shooter! Got a 65-2 P&R

So my last acquisition (66-2) turned out so much better than I thought it would that I couldn't bring myself to shoot it. In my mind that justified my buying something in .357 that I could shoot. Makes sense, right? So here is my new shooter in .357. It's a real pretty 65-2 P&R model. I can't...

OMG, It's even better than I thought!! BNIB Model 66

I think it is a "no dash" model 66. That's how it's listed on the box. I'm no expert so anyone can please correct me if I'm wrong.

OMG, It's even better than I thought!! BNIB Model 66

He said it was new and unfired but this looks like it just came off the shelf in 1983! 33 years ago! It still had the manual, warranty cards, a holster advertisement and the original cleaning kit still sealed in the baggie. This Model 66 was well worth the gently used SIG M11A1 I traded for it...

    Found - S&W 66 .357 4" barrel

Thanks for all the replies. I want to clarify that this thread was not intended to be a SIG M11A1 vs. M-66 comparison. I think that is like comparing apples to pineapples. Different platforms, different uses and different genre of pistols. Both are awesome, yes? I was just inquiring if I was...

    Found - S&W 66 .357 4" barrel

Thank you regalsc for dating the 66, I really appreciate it. Thank you to everyone else for you input. In response to Bam Bam's question, the Sig M11A1 is used but definitely a little more difficult to find. They are popular right now due to their role in the hands of the US Navy Seals. They...

    Found - S&W 66 .357 4" barrel

So this model 66 is not pinned or recessed but appears to be pre-lock. Brand new in original box, never fired. I'm trading a Sig M11A1 with an $800 value for the model 66. Can anyone tell me from the information off of the box in the attached picture, what year was this revolver manufactured...

Finding rails for my 629 Performance Center

Yep. Mine just came in the zip up pouch. Still looking for some of the rails that go with this if anyone on here has some they're not going to use. Here's some pics of my girl.

To shoot, or not to shoot. That is the question!

Where can I get some nice wood grips for it?
