    38 S&W Top Break

Thanks for the replies Jim and deadin. They really narrow down what the gun is. I did find an old sale (2008) on gunauction.com for one like it with the peruvian crest for $250. The gun appears to function well, but does have a fair amount of rust. Does $200-$250 sound about right for value?

    38 S&W Top Break

I am trying to help a friend identify this revolver. Serial no. on butt of grip is 536XXX. On the left side, to the right of the sideplate screw is a crest with what appears to be a fruit horn, a deer, and a flower inside of a shield. I think this will be visible in the pictures. I...

    38 spl duds?

Do the misfires only occur after you have fired a number of rounds? Sometimes when shooting lead bullets I will have a misfire, but I think the chambers get fouled from the bullet lube and powder residue. The fouling keeps the cartridge from seating firmly, and the hammer blow drives the...

    tumbling media

I use the tuff nut with the red rouge, then tumble for an hour or two with the pet store lizard litter (fine walnut shells). I think the tuff nut does a good job, and the lizard litter gets the red dust off, at least on the outside of the cases. I need to change out the tuff nut more often...

    Removing blemish from cylinder

You might try fingernail polish remover or acetone on the front sight. Some (myself included) use fingernail polish on front sights.

Wat do I have? 10-5 THREE inch?

Thanks. I missed getting one before Buds Gun Shop sold out of them. Some time later this one showed up on their site. I am guessing someone bought it, and sent it back because it was pretty rough. Most of the pitting was shallow enough to get out in a couple evenings with 220 grit, then 320...

Wat do I have? 10-5 THREE inch?

Here is mine after an Express Rust Blue. It had a lot of wear and pitting, but turned out pretty good.

    Tyler T-Grips

I just received the four I ordered in June. Three black, and one bronze. Finish looks pretty good on all of them.

Don't put them out of business before I get the 4 t-grips I ordered and paid for at the end of June.

    Revolver Wear Pattern

I have several of the Rossi 88's and 68's-mostly parts-guns or fix-it guns off of gunbroker. One of them had a loose trigger pin (stud) so you might check that and re-stake if necessary. You can usually find spare parts pretty cheaply.

    38 S&W Ammo

I have never loaded 38 S&W, but Speer #13 shows 38 S&W load data for both .357 jacketed and .358 lead bullets. It says: "The nominal bullet diameter for the 38 S&W is .360", so the bullets listed are actually undersized for this cartridge. However, in revolvers with deep rifling, accuracy us...
