He hasn’t brought it to the range since I sold it to him. AFAIK he still has it. He bought a G19 and has been shooting that at our weekly range sessions.
The 45 Shield was the perfect carry weapon for me. It just wasn’t reliable. I may wait a year or so and buy another copy to see if the...
I had the same issues as the OP. Mine also made two return trips to S&W. Tried new magazines, new followers, and Wolff extra power magazine springs. The FTF issues persisted. It wasn’t reliable for carry. I sold it to a shooting buddy who was fully aware of the issues.

1. 6 round magazines w/ latest followers & Wolff extra 5% springs.
2. Pistol clean & lubed. Magazines cleaned.
3. Factory 230 grain FMJ from various manufacturers.
4. FTF, when it occurs, is usually the second round in the magazine. Nose down and caught in the locking block.
5. Pistol returned...
Funflyer is right that the shooter can be the actual problem. In my case the Shield 45 was intended to be a carry gun, which, in a defensive scenario could be deployed with a less than optimal stance or one handed. A weapon that was not reliable for me on the range with a deliberate two handed...
I took my 45 Shield to the range on Thursday. The pistol was clean and lubed. It had the new factory RSA Installed. Each of the 6 round magazines had the latest followers and new Wolff +5% power springs. Ammo was Blazer Brass 230FMJ. The first magazine was fired with no issues. Second round...
I have received the extra power magazine springs from Wolff. I called S&W to purchase a new RSA (have about 1100 rounds down range). They said they will send one for free. I have been waiting about 10 days do far. Once the RSA is received I will test fire and report the results.

I have been having the same feed issues with my 45 Shield. I have had it for over a year and have shot over 1K rounds of factory ball thru it. It’s been back to S&W twice for feed issues. The first time they replaced the RSA. The second time it looks like they slightly throated and polished...
My Shield 45 has been back to S&W twice for the same issue. The last time they had it for a month. The paperwork said they polished the feed ramp and chamber. But that is not where the rounds were hanging up. Since its return I have shot 150 rounds of ball with one FTF and some 230 grain Gold...
Just an update on my 45 Shield. It went back to S&W for a second time to address FTF issues. They had it approx two months. I received it last week. The paperwork said they polished the feed ramp and chamber and test fired it. I took it to the range yesterday. I fired two boxes of ball with zero...
I called S&W two days ago and discussed my issues with one of the CS representatives. I explained that the Shield had been back for repairs and that I am still experiencing FTF's. I was considering sending it to the Performance Center for the M&P Action Package. He was very helpful and told me...
Took the Shield home and broke it down to clean it. After taking the slide off I took a hard look at the lower edge of the locking block and noted a distinctive edge/ridge where the rounds are catching. Then I inserted a magazine into the well and fully seated it. Seems that when the magazine...
Went to the range today with my 45 Shield, my buddy and his 45 Shield, and another friend. My Shield was stored with the slide locked to the rear for 3 weeks. The 4 magazines were fully loaded and for 3 weeks. All rounds fired were factory ball. All firing was initiated by locking the slide...
I am using the 6 round mag that came with the pistol and three additional 6 rounders that I purchased when I picked up the pistol at the dealer. I dislike extended magazines and don't use the 7 rounder. Since my FTF's occur across all 4 of my magazines (I number them) I doubt this is a magazine...
