    Cylinder fitting

Do you have anything helpful to contribute or are you just here to add the same tired boomer forum tropes about "grabbing popcorn"? Any additional condescending useless garbage to add while the adults are talking? Don't you have a Golden Corral to be at working on your fourth coronary? I have...

    Cylinder fitting

Thanks. Having now shot it and dry fired it a billion times, I went back to measure. I can fit a .006 feeler in from the left on all cylinders - on the right, sometimes a .005, but always a .004. Why would I need to cut both barrel and forcing cone? Couldn't I just face off the forcing cone at...

    Scuffed brand new Ti Cylinder

My car is covered in dings and pinstripes but if it came from the dealer that way I would turn it back.

    Cylinder fitting

Gun and cylinder were fit together and shot. Gap came in at around .004-.005, with the tightest chamber being .003 from the right and .004 from the left. It seems as though the forcing cone wasn't faced off perfectly flat. Factory gap was around .08-.010. This cylinder on my calipers shows as...

    Scuffed brand new Ti Cylinder

A 3rd cylinder arrived from Midway - this one was perfect.

    Scuffed brand new Ti Cylinder

Well, I got a second cylinder from Midway after returning that one. This one is even worse. This one had irremovable stains/splatter on the titanium and a scratch, in addition to the same scuffing on the front. I ordered a 3rd and have this one lined up to return. Hopefully 3rd times a charm, or...

    Scuffed brand new Ti Cylinder

Thanks all. I got it returned and will order another. I was under the impression these are manufactured by S&W and simply sold by MidwayUSA. I have seen in some pictures, possibly older, the Ti cylinders didn't used to have a darker face than the sides.

    Scuffed brand new Ti Cylinder

Hey all, I ordered a new J-frame titanium cylinder from Midway when they were in stock and just got mine. I don't have the J-frame it's going into yet, nor have I ever seen a Ti cylinder, but the front face, which seems to be "darker" due to the coating/treatment I assume, has some scuffs and...

    J-Frame CT LG-405 Weight

Wow that's really light. And I've heard they are one of the best grips for recoil even ignoring the laser. I actually cancelled my order when I read they were 4oz, thanks for weighing them! That changes everything frankly, I think I'll grab a pair - not many grips lighter than that.

Thanks. Pulled the trigger on a new M&P 340 and have a cylinder on the way, we'll see how it goes.

    J-Frame CT LG-405 Weight

Looking online, I see Crimson Trace lists no weight for the LG-405 grip for J-frames. Some places say 4oz, which seems plausible; others say 1oz, which I think is a misinterpretation of CT's marketing that it "adds less than 1 ounce". If anyone knows off hand or has a set laying around they can...

    Cylinder fitting

I don't actually have a working gun yet, I'm still figuring out how I'm gonna go about this. I'll be honest, I have a lot of hobbies, and working on revolvers isn't one of them nor am I planning to add it. If swapping a cylinder but keeping the extractor and checking headspace and endshake...

    Cylinder fitting

Apologies - I'm in Washington. I see TK Customs does lots of custom cylinder work by mail, I may ask if they're willing to do fitting. I don't have a problem shipping it to someone good. I also seem to have read in some of the linked threads that people had S&W do this fitting for them.

    Cylinder fitting

Appreciate on the input so far. I appreciate that the gain is "only" a few ounces. In fact, that is the only reason I'm doing it - to get the gun as light as possible. The 340PD has a square rear "notch", while the M&P 340 has a rear U-notch, that most all users have said is far superior...

    Cylinder fitting

Hey all - I'm planning to get an M&P 340 and swap a Ti cylinder to it immediately, letting me get the better sights with PD weight. I've had a revolver in the past but am not a "revolver guy". I've heard I can save some grief by keeping the extractor from the fitted cylinder when I swap to the...
