Retired military and have a AR-15 and LOVE my Nikon Monarch 5-22 scope... as your eyes are like mine a manual focus is a MUST and this scope is a miracle. It is also in your price range on many of the discount sites ... I think it is every bit as good as scopes 2-3x the price and you get great...

I have the 9MM CORE and love it... no special mount required for the Trijicon ... took 1 minute to mount... also added a light and laser... my opinion best gun out there... especially with the modded trigger...stock trigger is excellent but could be better...now if you can only FIND one... got...

Quality Issues? :D I purchased a M&P CORE Pro 9mm and it is perfect... no issues like you describe... send it to S&W or have a gunsmith check it out... My trigger is very clean, easy pull ...best pistol I own... added the Trijicon red dot and the Rail light/laser ... now if we could only buy...
