    10" Model 48

Can't believe I had a brain f**t when replying. Forgot all about the M29 Silhouette with the 10 5/8" barrel.........!

    10" Model 48

By no means any sort of an expert, but I would say no. I believe that the longest barrel they offered was the 8 3/4" on the Registered Magnum. Can't say they didn't do a special one, since they did produce one Registered Magnum in 22LR, I guess you can never say never. I know I have seen some...

Nickel 25 with Culina Black and White Ebony’s

I have to ask. Is that a factory nickel plated M25-2? The reason I ask, is that I saw them listed in the S&W catalogs, but never saw a real one.

    Why magna grips?

I have magna grips on most of my S&W revolvers. I have them on my two M24-3, pre M29, and M25-2. I have a set of "cokes" on my M29-2, and modified by me target grips on my other M29-2. The only one I have the original target stocks on is my first M29-2 purchased in 1975. The target grips that...

    Lever action assault rifles

Per media, any long gun that is used in the commission of a crime is automatically an "assault rifle". They are no longer concerned with any sort of accuracy in reporting.

S&W mod. 3 Target cal. 44 Russian museum quality

I am in no way, any sort of expert, but IMO, it has been reblued. The S&W stamp on the right side of the frame looks "washed out" near the bottom, the rib on the top of the barrel looks like it was buffed, and there appears to be some soft edges. Again, not an expert, just doesn't look correct...

    Lever action assault rifles

Haven't read through all the posts in this thread, so apologize if this has been brought up, but Jeff Cooper was a big proponent of a 30-30 lever action rifle for defense or offense if necessary.

    Kramer Leather Customer Service Experience

Update on my grip situation....sent me an email about a month or so ago, said they were finsished...but...they were flawed. Had a place where a small branch had apparently grown out of. The quality was about a .5 on a scale of 1-10 of their usual work. They did offer me a discount, but it was...

    If Not Randall, Then What?

I have owned several custom and commercial knives. I like Martin knives, but he no longer takes orders, he just makes some and puts them on his site to sell. I had good luck with a couple of Greg Wall knives, but he has turned into a ghost. Website up, but never answers emails, calls, texts...

    Gun show dilemma

As I get older, I am selling more of my firearms. I am keeping the ones I really enjoy shooting, or have some sentimental value. Most of my "collector" pieces are on the block or will be soon. I can't get out to shoot as much as I would like to, so would rather pass them on to someone who can. I...

    Mdl 29 bbl. Lengths

There was a gent who ran, I believe a wholesale firearms business. I think his last name was Marble. He had connections at S&W and was able to "pull some strings" if you will and get personalized serial numbered guns. M29-2 serial number N3 was one of them. I think he also had N1 and N2, but...

First Consecutive Pair of 44 Magnums

Doc44, I have a question for you. Many, many years ago, George Wimer offered a set of three consecutively numbered M29's. I don't remember their vintage, but I think they were pre-dash. Just out of curiosity, do you know about these and were there any more instances of consecutive numbered M29's...

    27-2 8 3/8" Opinions

That has been a gun that has been on my want list for years, but don't know why. I have one 357 left in my collection, a 1981 vintage Colt Python in their "Royal Guard" (electroless nickel) finish. I have had a 8 3/8" M29 for around 50 years and it is one my favorites. Just something about the...
