I find that my 69 recoils less than my 4 inch 629 and a little less than my 6 inch 29-3. I think it has to do with the lower bore axis. Any heavily loaded .44 magnum is going to make you work a little, but I wouldn't shy away from a 69 due to recoil concerns.
Found this guy yesterday. Serial number is N305. Lazy ampersand on both the barrel and the registration mark. Tyler T trigger shoe. Very honest holster wear and mechanically tight. It will make a good shooter.
1. No
2. Definite turn ring.
3. Grips number to the gun but they have some love marks.
4. Yes, but the gun is very tight
5. I have no idea
6. None. Just the gun.
7. Definitely :D
Scratched my Model 10 itch, albeit with a Pre-Model 10. Here she is cleaned up. It's got a few spots with rust pitting that I cleaned up, but overall it looks pretty good and function is perfect. And she was a $100.00.

Just lucked into this gun.http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-hand-ejectors-1896-1961/331231-help-identifying-old-38-a.html
Would love to find the ejector rod end piece and correct grips.
I think you are correct although it definitely looks like someone cut the top off the ejection rod. Where would one go about looking for a replacement and also period correct grips.
