the first time i saw one was at a local gun show my knees got weak i had been considering the gsg-5pk but the shorter pistol one's were taken off the market so when i saw this one - OMG!! gotta be nice to the other half so i can buy it lol

John Check out the new ones.A lock isn't going to matter for a range gun IMHO.Keep your pre-lock for when you want to look at a pre-lock version. I don't understand the comment about ...for a range gun.... I thought the 617 was very accurate out to 50 yds and good for small game hunting...
