I called S&W today...The big difference is indeed the refinishing. The S&W Customer Rep did say the action jobs were slightly different but he did not sound 100% confident on it. He also told me they will re-laser whatever was on the gun which I might or might not want... Now I need to save...

I've been using my S&W 1911 for IPSC S/S last few matches and found out I really hate the rear sight on the gun. After a match my wrist and/or forearm look like i was attacked by a hedgehog. Does anyone know what my options for a smooth adjustable rear or rear/front sight are? I'd prefer not...
