I decided to replace the "dead" factory tritium sights with an XS Sights Big Dot set (SW-0003P-5). Bo at XS was very helpful in identifying the correct drop-in replacements for my 5946 (items not on their website or their pdf catalog price list). I'll post before and after pictures next week...
