Proper rear sight for Model 27-2 8 3/8"

Hi, I picked up a nice blued Model 27-2 but the rear sight was missing. It looks like it was tapped for a scope, with a second hole on the top strap. Here's the sight I bought but it's too short. The screw hole does not line up. ""Smith & Wesson Rear Sight Assembly .136" Black K, L, N-Frame""...

    Model 19-2 blued 6”

Curios & Relics | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “Firearms automatically attain C&R status when they are 50 years old. Any firearm that is at least 50 years old, and in its original configuration, would qualify as a C&R firearm. It is not necessary for such firearms to be...

    Model 19-2 blued 6”

I have other S&W revolvers with the football cutouts but I guess that wasn’t enough for the previous owner. They did do a nice job expanding the cutout. So this is now a C&R? Sweet.

    Model 19-2 blued 6”

I recently added this beauty to my S&W family. Model 19-2 blued 6”. The left grip has been modified. Any ideas on the ship date? SN is K6819xx.

    Questions...586-1

Would a 586 no dash have an "N" on the cylinder face indicating a factory nickel finish?

    US Army M1917

What does the screw in front of the trigger guard do? I have not removed that screw but....when I took the side plate off, the forward most screw was very loose. When I reassembled it I tightened that screw so it was snug but not overly tight. Then I could not open the cylinder. I thought I...

    US Army M1917

Thanks for the info Hondo/Jim. I was sure I was going to find that the side plate assembly numbers did not match the crane but they do match. The crane has 5817 stamped in 2 places, and the side of the crane has the same SN as the bottom of the frame. The side plate also has 5817. I can't...

    US Army M1917

Here's the latest, and certainly oldest, member of my small S&W family. SN 132422 puts this as made in November 1918? The SN is also on the side of the crane - visible with the cylinder open through an empty chamber. I haven't done any disassembly and cleaning yet. Wondering if the side plate is...

An Interesting (to me) Old Winchester Model 12

Winchester Model 12 Trench Well since others are sharing... I lucked into this just a few months ago. Experts from other forums tell me this is a legit trench gun made in early 1943. Came with the 1917 bayonet and scabbard with is actually British.

    Nickel 29-2

Yeah, the pic does not show it very well but the "N" is at 12 o'clock in the pic.

    Nickel 29-2

^^ 10 bills. That seems to be in line with what I see on GunBroker but then I would have to pay shipping and FFL fees. Plus I'm in CA so this is "off roster" due to the lack of an integral lock.

    Nickel 29-2

The guy I bought it from was at least the 2nd owner. I certainly plan to shoot it.

    Nickel 29-2

The guy I bought it from said he never fired it. He also had a 29-3 that he used. Unfortunately he did not have the original box.

    Nickel 29-2

A brass brush won't scratch nickel? I have used Flitz with a cotton cloth on a nickel 19-4. Cleaning the cylinder face with cloth takes some time and elbow grease but it works.
