    A True 1891 SS Target 1st Model?

A second model barrel would normally have come with a narrow (Paine?) front sight blade and a U-notch rear blade, although anything was possible. Bob

1932 Outdoorsman with hole at top of front strap

How can you drill a hole while dancing? Every stock I have seen, factory or aftermarket, has used the bottom of the butt and/or the backstrap. Bob

Pre-war Magnas on Postwar, Transitional N Frames?

This thread, while informative, raises one question for me. Why did the factory go to the trouble of making what seems to me to be an insignificant and not financially advantageous change? Bob

38 Double Action Perfected 4" Target

You won, I lost. I passed on it not believing the rear sight was correct. I have been trying to get a 6" target from a friend of mine for many years. Amoskeag sold a 4" target Club Gun not too long ago from the Pete DeRose collection. Congratulations on a great gun. Bob

    S&W in 45 Colt..

Smith & Wesson didn't have a problem because Winchester was not a competitor. The .30-30 and .44-40 cartridge designations indicated caliber and powder charge weight. Bob

Bought a Colt revolver and have some questions......

My guess is hard rubber. The early PPTs had the rubber, later ones checkered walnut. I don't know the exact dates and there was some overlap, but the transition was sometime around when the WRF chambering was discontinued. Bob

    Possible year?

Does the same number appear on the rear of the cylinder, underside of the barrel latch and inside the "ears" at the rear of the barrel? Possibly scratched inside the right grip. Bob

    K38 Serial block request

I see no conflict. Roy indicates the serial number range for Masterpiece revolvers. The great majority of them, however, were K22s. Bob

Please, is this an authentic H.E. Triple Lock?

Looking closely at the OP's excellent quality photos, I have another question. Does this look more like a roll stamp or laser engraving:

Please, is this an authentic H.E. Triple Lock?

Two problems. That moves the number further off-center and the font of the two 3s is identical.

Please, is this an authentic H.E. Triple Lock?

I have seen (and owned) a number of Spanish TL copies, mostly by Aranazabel and Hermanos Orbea. I have never, however, seen one with the Smith & Wesson name or logo. Some even, when you remove the grips, had a Colt V-spring action. This one is marked on the top of the barrel "Aranazabel...

    California and Antique handguns

"or a replica thereof" Is there a legal definition of "replica?" Per BATF, the definition of an antique firearm is: 16) The term “antique firearm” means— (A) any firearm (including any firearm with a matchlock, flintlock, percussion cap, or similar type of ignition system) manufactured in or...

    Questions for the K-22 Experts

I believe that serial number should have come standard with the "fishhook" hammer, with the spur curving upward. But, as Jack indicated, the optional target hammer could be original. The correct grips would be the early post-war "sharp shoulder" style. Not scarce and worth a lot less than the...

List of all guns sold by Montgomery Ward.

I remember, as a teenager, going to the Woolworths in downtown Miami and buying a surplus Spanish Mauser rifle and a bunch of old 7mm ammo. I then got on the bus and took it home unwrapped. Much later, when the Ruger Number 1 rifle first came out, I bought one at Toys R Us. Bob
