Replaced the Bantam Grip on my S&W 642 several years ago with a Hogue, Model 1711024, Molded Rubber. Simple install and a great feeling of control. Have been running 50 rounds a week through mine for the past 6 - 7 years.

Use both Bullard & El Paso Saddlery (OWB) for Officer size 1911's. Good quality products. Like the Tensioning Screw on the El Paso.

Some years ago, right after my first session with my S&W, 642 I replaced the Bantam Grips with full-sized Hogue. Concern that recoil from a 38+P might cause the Airweight Frame to pop out of my hand went away. At close range it's enough bang to stop nearly anything but a Great Ape or Bull...

Carried a S&W 642 for 6 - 7 years. Lightweight, 38+P round & concealed Hammer are ideal for CC. Speed-loaders are inconvenient to carry. Switched to compact, 1911 a couple of years ago simply because of convenience of magazines.

Went back to it Sunday afternoon. Was able to slip a blade on a jackknife type Feeler Gage under the Thumb Safety. With a lot of jiggling, it finally came free. Never experienced that problem before. The Feeler Gage went into my case of cleaning supplies for next time.

Stripped, cleaned, lubed & reassembled a new S&W, 1911, 3", Pro. Hammer would not cock. Disassembled 1911's 100's of times since my first purchase of a Colt, GI in the early 1960's. Missed something this time through. Removed M/S Housing, compressed Plunger to relieve the Thumb Safety. No...
