I actually have a pinned barrel 25-5 - I knew the story on the cylinder throats, and actually got some bullets off the shelf to test them - two of the throats would pass .458" rifle bullets - I bought the gun anyway (it was only $300).
About a month later the same dealer called me and said he...
Here is one of my M-19s. I forget the dash # but I bought it used in 1978 - the work was done by the Memphis PD armorer (Tom P.) and I carried it on duty for about 2 years.
Those were the days! Not only could you carry a custom gun you could carry handloads!

While I've had revolver's fail (often due to a mistake I made), I have shot a lot of critters with handguns - depending on the bullet design, 500 fps doesn't gain you much (except a little range) - a .357 magnum 125 gr. JHP, in my experience, is markedly less effective than a .45 Auto...at least...
That might leave a mark :D Then again, I have some 158 gr. .45 bullets (cast out of ziinc, bought them from Dillon back in the day) they get 1550 from a 5" 1911.
They aren't as effective on game as 230s at 850 but they are sort of interesting. Neither are 165 Cor-bon powerball which get...
I have a sign above my desk, given to me by a Colonel that says: "There's not too much that can't be fixed with a Colt .45 and a 30-06" - no he wasn't "The Colonel" but he knew him.

I just realized I had one of those magazines on my desk - it fits my S&W 39-2 but I bought it used so not sure it is original, it does have "S&W" on the base plate, no other markings.
It does work with 9mm.

Have you seen Bill Jordon "beat the drop"? He balanced a ping pong ball on the back of his hand and fired 6 rounds before it hit the floor - of course he cheated he dropped the ball from waist level, and the ball dropped into the empty holster after he drew - even though in slow motion you...
I haven't seen it but I've read about it - apparently James Arness (Aurness) was quite the cut up :D
I am constantly watching Gunsmoke over a little at a time - by the time I finish all 20 seaons I'm ready to start over. I also have all the Laman Series, and Have gun will travel on DVD -...
Funny, I bought my first M-29 used in 1976, back home they were indeed running $750 to $800 for any one longer than 4" and I didn't want to put that in it. I was visiting a cousin in Morristown TN and we dropped by a little shop in another small town and he had one in the wood case for $350 so...
Here is one of my three Arvo rigs, with a Colt 2nd gen 7.5"
I have one for a 5.5" in brown and another that was a "walk and draw" though Andy Anderson actually started that style of forward rake.
Arvo sure was a cook dude - I was facinated by his twirling a Walker Colt! Then again Rod...
Mine was a brand new K-38 I bought right after my 21st birthday (I had other handguns I had bought back before the GCA-68 went into effect) but IIRC this was my first new center-fire.
It taught me, on the second cylinder full of factory ammo that revolvers were not as reliable as 1911s! Of...
I have somehow managed to avoid 2" M-10s (not a good thing I assure you) but I do have a 2" M-12-3 - I don't shoot it a lot but I did manage to find it is pretty accurate.
I also have two or three M-15 2" guns.
And I did manage to snag a 10-5 tapered barrel 3" - I don't see a whole lot of...
