    Letter designation on S&W Revolvers

The person who would know is Roy Jinks. He knows everything as the S&W historian. Might give him a call.

    Letter designation on S&W Revolvers

Letter designation on S&W revolvers Just a thought that they might have some meaning other than random. Makes sense now that you mention the hammer block. The addition of the "S" for safety. Thanks for the info.

    Letter designation on S&W Revolvers

    S&W Model 25-2 SER# N4056XX

    Model 12-3 Nickel ser#1515XX

Model 12-3 I am going back tomorrow with a magnet. I am inclined to believe it is an early 38 Hand Ejector. The reason the pawn shop dealer listed it as a 12-3 is because the crane # is 0123. this along with the serial number could be an old gun, but I doubt that is factory nickel. Thanks...

    Model 12-3 Nickel ser#1515XX

Can anyone tell me by the serial number if the gun has a steel cylinder? It is at a local pawn shop for sale. Has black S&W grips.
