Texas Wagon Train is now a Shooter!

Beautiful Revolver and a great way to get a five inch 44. Are those maple grips?

    N frame rear sight

I ordered a Bowen rough country sight today. I don't know how long they will be available so I thought I should get one while I can. The Weigand and Millet sights are gone. Most of the sights available are for the rounded tang and have fiber optic light pipe's. I'm not against fiber optic...

    N frame rear sight

I emailed Weigand machine and design. They responded the rear sight blade is no longer available. I'm still looking.

I'm looking for a Weigand rear sight blade for a S&W revolver

That's what I'm looking for. I'll try to contact them.

    N frame rear sight

Is there a better target sight blade or sight assembly available? I find the s&w sight blade fuzzy. I have a bowen rough country on a 25-5 and like it but they're a pain to adjust windage. This is for a 25-9 with the old style sight tang.

    1854 45 Long Colt +P

The original 45 Schofield rim was too large in diameter for some colt's. The rim's would overlap. You could use it as a three shooter though. They made a short version with a rim that would work in both guns for the military. I don't know if they were sold on the civilian market.

    Spring kit for a newbie

The reduced power main spring can lead to light strikes in some but not all gun's with the frame mounted firing pin. You'll have to try it to find out. I prefer the 14lb rebound spring but that is a personal choice. The lighter rebound spring won't affect primer strikes. Some people feel too...

    Manufacture Date for Model 629-5?

The 4 digit number under Spec. Ord. 1st digit is the last number of the year. The next three digits are the day of that year.

    New Mountain Gun Price

I paid $1200 several years ago for a 625-7 MG. I would rather found a -6 but couldn't find one at a reasonable price. The -7 is a 45 colt pre lock with MIM parts. I think the 629-5 were the same in 44 mag.

    Lipsey's Mountain Guns??

Is the 629 the same as a pre lock mim gun (629-5) with different sights and grips?

    41 magnum popularity

SuperMan. I'm curious how they make a 41 python. I look at my 1975 python and can't see room for larger holes in the cylinder. Do they go with a five shot, over size cylinder, or something else? Does anyone know if they made any 41 mag's on the anaconda?

    Best 629 dash model

I have a 629-3 classic 5" I bought new. It had tight cylinder throats (.428) and didn't shoot well with cast bullets. I had the throats opened to .4305 and it shoots great now. It has the chrome hammer and trigger.

    Recommendation for color case hardening

I sent a 25-5 hammer and trigger that had been blued to turnbull last april. They did beautiful work. It eas 150$ for polishing and case coloring, about three weeks total including shipping both ways. I kept thbe hammer nose blue for a nice contrast. They will disasamble the hammer and trigger...
