Why not shoot the ammo?

I’m not a fan of the long barrreled handguns. I think handguns are for carrying. That barrel disqualifies this one from field carry.

Smith J frames are the most difficult handguns to shoot of any commonly owned handguns. Most are never shot more than once. They’re not fun guns to shoot.

This is a common feature. You can ream the chambers a bit or polish them. In any event, a 15 minute job for any competent gunsmith.
You can send it back to Smith, although things usually go more quickly if your local gunsmith does it while you wait.

Nothing wrong with that but any value premium would depend more on overall condition than presence of a particular feature.
