Rastoff, my .40 barrel looks much closer to the second picture you posted, rather than your barrel with the snapcap. It does not appear to be cut too deep into the barrel, but the feed ramp is cut much wider.

I love my shield. Went out in the "storm" a couple of weekends ago with the f350 in four dig and fell in love with it at the counter. I tried their blue gun with some sort of slip on grip and it was awesome, really wish I remembered what it was. agksimon, do you have any pictures of that shield...

I like the Winchester Target rounds. 165g FMJ Haven't had an issue, picked up a box of 100 for 50 bucks at the army navy. I don't trust aluminum shells in a semi auto, heard too many people complain about them not loading and not ejecting.

Like said, the Shield manual shows field stripping only. Is the release button itself rusting, or is it within the grip? I'm just thinking if it's the button itself, which is removable, S&W could hopefully come up with a fix/replacement part, that can simply be dropped in.

It isn't so much of a pain in that sense, as an inconvenience not being able to go one up, then load a full mag. However, it is a tight fit for full rounds and getting the mag in, I'm used to that though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

Rechecked this today and it's exactly as you say/show offshell. Having to load from the clip to go 6+1 or 7+1 is kind of a pain, but I guess I can deal with that. Thanks for the help everyone. Happy shooting.
