While I didn't buy it myself, my first Smith was a model 36 in nickel that my dad bought for me when I first joined the PD. He said our issue 64 was too big for concealed carry... and he was right! The first Smith I BOUGHT was a model 1917 in .45 acp. Nice gun, but a bit big for me.
