Thanks for the input. I've heard a few mention that there seemed to be no apparent difference when switching and some say that hand fitting was needed. I would agree with JohnK's thinking about how it should work. Perhaps I should pick up the cylinder and a hand and go for it. If it doesn't...
Is there a different hand part number between the models 686 and 686+? Considering a 6 to 7 shot conversion and figure I'll need to fit a hand.
Thanks.
Still looking for that elusive 681-3, without import marks. It's a tall order since no one seems to want to sell them, but if somebody decides they need something else in their collection instead, maybe we can work to free up some funds for you.
I want to have a 681 fitted with a 7 shot cylinder. S&W quoted around $250 and nearly 5 months, if they decided to do it. I live in Southern Oregon and I'd prefer a local smith, but I don't mind shipping it off. What would be some good options, especially with a shorter wait time?
Thanks in...
I hear stories about lands where 681s are plentiful and prices are a flash back to years gone by. If you live in such a place and want to sell a 681-3, please let me know. Not everywhere is as S&W bountiful as your part of the world.
In other words: bump!
Bump! Doesn't have to be in perfect shape, but decent shape. The better the shape, the better the price. 681-3 though.
Ediy: Updated maximum price I'm looking to spend.
If available, I'll take this holster:
F/S DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard
for S&W L frame revolvers with 4 inch barrels.
A picture is below, my revolver is not for sale.
Asking $35 plus shipping and insurance.[F31}
PM inbound. I followed up with an e-mail as well.
