Todays gun culture in America, a rant.

You should come to Cody, WY in June for Linebaugh Shoot.

    If they remade "Dirty Harry"

I though abut this for awhile. My pick is Hugh Jackman. And, John Ross/PC 500. I've spent past 10yrs with these great guns and know what I'm talking about.

    Mod 29-5

After around M29-3, they changed from 6.5" to 6". Then they switched back to 6.5", around M29-8 or something i don't remember. Your M29-5 should be 6".

    Moving Cross Country

Don't know how old you are, what your budget is but hiring moving company is the way to go. Many big name movers will give you free estimate and they are pretty close. Good luck!

    Blued S&W 500

Totally agree with Bill. Blue .500 please! They should just eliminate those compensators and ports and make it look like traditional S&Ws.

    S&W pre-29 Chrome lined barrel?

Based on the picture, it's not lined or anything just worn blue. Looks like typical S&W 5 groove rifling. Whatever you were told is just BS in my opinion. Just buy it and shoot it and enjoy. Too much worry over too little things...

    Bad Hornady 500 die?

You need to use sizing lube with Hornady die. I have several die sets for .500 and for sizing, I rate Hornady as the best. As you notice, it creates slight taper case body which is better as it sizes minimum = better case life. TN die for the straight case sizing is, for the most part...

I would love to pick up some but little too far to drive...

    Relocating to Colorado

I would double the distance/driving time and look all the way to Fairplay, South Park area. Believe me, if you love freedom, nature, and can deal with some snow, you'll be lot happier. Just too many people in the front range and it's growing = not good for real gun guys...

Which gunsmith for a bullseye trigger job?

I have used several gunsmiths as well as doing some work myself in the past 20 years. My conclusion; Spend money on ammo and shoot! Don't do anything internally until you put 100,000rds through the gun. 100K rds are not that much, by the way. If you shoot 100/day, every day, you'll consume...

    Great new gun guy novel

Don't know if I want to read another Swagger story. Kind of got tired of those Super Heros. Hunter may be good with writing guns/shooting but NOBODY tops our own John Ross.

    Shooting 52-2

Rule No.1 = Never, ever shoot someone else's handload! There are way too many people who have no idea what they're doing and even really experienced shooter/handloader makes mistake every once in awhile. Start with fresh components and make your own as precise as you could. Remember. You only...
