I'm wondering if it would be worth it to letter my early Model 57? It's serial # is S248433 If you've lettered your pistol, was it worth it?

a few more pics I just purchased a S&W mahogany case with blue felt lining. It's not a vintage original, but the 57 sure looks nice sitting in it after a good cleaning and polish.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these markings indicate, if anything? Caliber, capacity, barrel length? What's the "Q" for? I'm just real curious. Thanks, Brad

serial I saw my present again today when we took care of the transfer at the local gun shop. The serial is in fact S244833. Does that make it an early 57?

I've been waiting for someone to say that.... :) I don't know if I can make it another 6.5 weeks
