just bought a new 40C, shot a few boxes and stripped it to clean. The recoil spring end looks like it was dipped into paint or some sort of coating. Never seen this on my other S&W's or Glocks, any idea why this was done or should I call the factory and ask for a replacement?

thanks for the info. Recommendations on which barrel to buy? There are several brands out there but most of what I have read doesn't include S&W barrels, rather aftermarket ones.
