My first "modern" rifle: the 15 Sport

Excellent choice on that RRA Varmint trigger. That's going to make a HUGE difference for you.

Newb - M&P15 Sport, Melonite, Dust Cover

That is horrible luck man. I'm assuming S&W must've let one get out of the factory with a serious defect. Hope they make it right for you. I suppose it's POSSIBLE to ruin a barrel in under 2000 rounds. Heck you could probably do it in much less than that if all you do is run mag after mag thru...

Newb - M&P15 Sport, Melonite, Dust Cover

I agree! Too much belly-aching on forums about this "issue". I say step away from the computer and get out and SHOOT/TRAIN with the thing! It will likely cost thousands upon thousands of dollars in ammo to wear one of these barrels out, and just like MichiganScott said, they make new ones...

That won't last.... its like a disease. Pretty soon you'll start hating that buttstock. Then you'll want to add an optic. After that you'll figure those standard hand guards are ugly (and they are). Before you know it you'll be running around your house pretend "room clearing" with your light...

That's a great looking rifle, Grjfer. Love that handguard. Yeah FDE does seem to be "the rage" these days. I think it's the contrast of the black steel against the FDE components, very pleasing to the eye! You can never have too many AR's! I only have 2 right now and I'm constantly finding...

Thanks for the compliment on the photo. Amazing what you can do these days with a cell phone camera and some editing! I really like that CMR scope. It's an absolutely incredible value. Clear optics, great reticle, holds zero well and is repeatable. It's a well-built optic. If I had to choose...

How much upgrading have you done to your entry level M&P-15 Sport? These are great rifles and I'm just curious what others have done to make them even better! Here's a shot of mine... It's got a Midwest drop-in quad rail, a RRA 2-stage match trigger, FDE FAB Defense (Mako) furniture, a...

    FAB Defense furniture...

Yes, the lever for adjustments is stiff on mine too. It may just be that the "pin" inside that physically locks in to the buffer tube holes is a bit larger than other stocks. It locks in to place very positively though and there is way less "slop" than with my OEM stock. Besides the lock the...

    FAB Defense furniture...

I haven't found a whole lot online about these FAB Defense (Mako) grips and buttstocks. I was planning to upgrade my Sport's grip and buttstock since I got it. Ive been eyeing Magpul MOE stuff and had several items on "watch" on eBay. But was doing a little eBay searching and I found these FAB...
