    Have You Sought Professional Training?

Yes, Working through the NRA pistol courses: First was Defensive Pistol, next was Basic CCW. This fall I'll do Personal Protection Inside the Home, and then Personal Protecion Outside the Home. If I were ever to travel to one of the big-name academies, I would first look into Thunder Ranch.

    Machining for Moon Clips

I have a S&W 696 .44 spl and am looking into having the cylinder machined for moon clips. Just wanted to know what companies anyone has used to have this done. I'm currently thinking of using TK Custom in Illinois to do the work. Has anyone used their service? Also, TK looks to be the only one...

    325TR Weapon Light options

Thanks for information. Not familiar with the TLR-4, but I'll take a look. Probably will go with the laser option either way. The biggest problem I see with the TRR-1 (or TLR-2) is the size. I don't think it will fit in my Hornady safe, so one of the smaller models would be the way to go. A lot...

    325TR Weapon Light options

I have a 325 TR revolver and am looking to add a weapon light. Smith made it easier with the inclusion of the under-barrel rail mount, so I've done some research and come up with the Streamlight TLR-1 or perhaps the smaller TLR-8, either with or without the laser option. I would like to hear...

    S&W 625-5 Sad Story

Thanks for all the kind words... Had I to do all over again, I would not have sent the gun back to Smith, even though it was a warranty issue. Had the service department told me at the time that I would not receive the original barrel back, I would looked to someone else to repair/restore the...

    S&W 625-5 Sad Story

I'm still around...I haven't checked this post in a while, and other hobbies (hot rods, even more expensive than guns) have taken up most of my spare time. Still active in shooting, but not the 625-5. I never did find another barrel, although I still see the 625 Classic for sale now and then...

    625 Classic - .45 LC

I like my 625-5 and wouldn't part with it. The serial number should start with the prefix SDS, meaning it was a Stocking Dealer Special. 1500 units were made. The barrel on my 625 split just ahead of the barrel threads, and those barrels are not available any more. See this post...

Rebore 629 Classic 5" barrel to .45 Colt

A while back ('09), I posted a problem that I had with a 625-5 Classic .45 Colt. You can see the original post here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/109435-s-w-625-5-sad-story.html Long story short, one of the replies to my post suggested that I get a 629 barrel and have...

    S&W 625: 45ACP or 45LC?

I hope that this is still on-topic, but were there any barrel land/groove differences between the ACP and LC guns? I seem to remember something about shallower rifling or twist differences. I can't find the post now, so I'll ask again. Thanks....

NJ Handgun Purchase Permit Wait Time

I would like to hear from other New Jerseyans who currently have pending handgun purchase permit applications. When did you submit the paperwork, and how long did it take to get your permit? Or, are you still waiting? I'd like to especially hear from those who have applied for permits...

Which progressive press do you use???

For small batches or to test out a new load, I use a RCBS JR single stage press that I started relaoding with, bought in the late '70's...For bulk reloading I use the original Hornady progressive, the Pro-7 (later called the Pro-jector) bought in '86.
