    SW1911TA Issues

If you are familiar with 1911s, by all means talk them down, with safety and functionality being good reasons. All of the possible problems with that, the parts are available from Midway (actual S&W parts). Now my SW1911TA is an incredible pistol and great tack driver. But there are plenty of...

Recovered 5906 damaged by the police.

My opinion is call S&W. Most of the parts are still available. They might rework the whole gun for you under warranty. If they can find the parts after the move.

459 with "DEAD TRIGGER" probable cause?

There are alot of things with a pistol that old. I was just at my LGS and they had a 4506 that the trigger just free played and would not drop the hammer. When I took the slide off, the ejector plunger spring had worn through the plunger. The 459 you are looking at probally needs taken apart and...

    Source for 645 decocking lever.

Numrich has the screw. Their part number is 327040. And if it helps the factory part numbers are 100180000 for the lever and 105380000 for the screw. It might be worth calling S&W, sometimes they still have some of the old parts. They just don`t have a way of looking up the parts for the older...

    Intermittent ftf for k frame

I noticed that you didn't say anything about the strain screw. I had a friend give me his 66-1 to look at because he was getting light primer strike every once and awhile, then it was all of the time. When I took the grips off, the strain screw was backed off. The previous owner did this to...

DIY "Trigger Job" on Smith semi-autos (Not M&Ps)

disassembly of s&w 3rd generation - Bing video This should get you to the you tube video by blubelly2. He has 4 videos on taking apart and re-assembling 3rd Gen Smiths. It also shows you how to smooth them out. I did a 3953 and a 4566TSW and both came in at 2-3lbs less trigger pull and a...

    Nickle brass, a situation I don't understand!

I would also look to starline for the brass. They have different options for 38 super. I also believe that the brass is expanding too much. The nickel does not expand as much.

    s&w 4566 Hammer

First you need to know if it is a MIM hammer or not. Midway has the MIM hammer and Numrich has the other.

    S&W 4513 TSW NOS

The TSWs had the slides hand fitted to the frames, the 457 was part of the value line. Rock the slides on both. The TSW will have very little movement, while you will be able to rock the slide side to side. The TSWs had much tighter tolerances, while the value line was mass produced. I have...
