Thanks folks,
I am also reading that the Shield Plus is MINUS MINUS for spare magazine availability :(
I guess I will just stick with my 442. No mags required but I do have a large stock of moon clips :D
Ken
And I thought I needed a score card to figure out CZ model variations :o
I was looking at a pile of M&P pistols at a local gun dealer this morning. And it was a pile. I liked the Shield Plus (large capacity version). When I got back home to do some more research I got rather confused. I have...
Thanks steelslayer,
I have been pondering your reply all day. The local hardware store does have a lot of fasteners. However, I have never seen any "gun" type (e.g. 40 or 48 thread per inch super fine). And sometimes hardware store screws are not made of the best quality steel. However...
I have a WWII vintage British contract M&P revolver which is in need of a couple of fixes. One is to set the barrel back and set the cylinder/barrel spacing. It is currently .012". Probably not worth doing. The second involves the front most side plate screw. The threads in the frame are all...
Ain't no d***ed revolver going to outsmart me :) Time to close out this thread (and I think throw the speed loaders in the trash.)
To recap - the hammer, being black oxide finished, shows where it is rubbing quite plainly. On the lower left - along the rounded part - it was badly scored. I...
Thanks jaymoore,
I am getting more disgusted with this project by the day. I have observed some scuffing on the right side of the hammer at the business end. I am going to see if I can fit a .001" shim on the right side of the hammer pivot and see if that will prevent the hammer from...
Sorry Pizza Bob, I did not mean to umber you. From my admittedly limited experience with these things the hammer mounted firing pin design is 3 for 3 at being reliable and not picky as to moon clip dimensions or ammo. The frame mounted pin is 0 for 2. Actually I might say 0 for 3. When I first...
Thanks Pizza Bob, however, I would add the caveat that the revolver must have a hammer mounted firing pin.
I purchased my first (more about that in a minute) 625 (non) Performance Center revolver in April 2019. It did not function. Many failures to fire - light primer strikes.
I called S&W...
The title sort of says it all. I tried an HKS 25-M which is listed for .45 Auto Rim for the S&W 25-2. It holds the AR cartridges but will not release them into the cylinder. The alignment is not correct and the cartridges bind in the speed loader. It is not the grips as I have tried with the...
Thanks Kevin,
I am waiting to hear back from Logan Clark, the "President" of CCG. I will see what he has to say about my proposal that they change the mirror finish back to a brushed finish as was on it originally - should be easy and fit thje correct length barrel and FINISH the barrel this...
I guess I might add an update to this thread. My long suffering Performance Center 625 is back from Clark Custom Guns (temporarily - more on that in a moment.) The chambers do have distinct shoulders on which the mouth of the case will headspace. I therefor do not think the case rim profile...
Thanks steelslaver,
After the Clark LWR I decided to see what I could do myself. I purchased a Wolff Spring reduced power main spring and installed it in a Model 15 along with a reduced power rebound spring. The results were FANTASTIC. Not quite as good as the LWR but for $20 instead of...
Thanks Nightowl,
That is an interesting observation about case length. I am always careful about that for bottle neck rifle cases. I will have to look into that. I may need a specific batch for the 625. Or I could use .45 AR brass. I have a bunch from Starline which is in my reserve stockpile...
Thanks Muley Gil.
I have used a light .45 AR load with cast bullets in the .455 Webleys. Considering their age they are sort of retired. If I want to shoot a Webley I have several in .38/200 aka .38 S&W. Also an Enfield No. 2 from 1935 which I shot recently for its 85th birthday. I also have a...
Thanks StrawHat,
Yes I did ask 2 questions. The 1917 was more to learn the historical basis of the whole thing. As to S&W's newer "improvement" - I could think of some things to say but not in mixed company. I will have to try some rounds without clips when I get the 625 back.
Thanks Hondo44...
