No I wasn’t suggesting using .454 data to replace .460 data. I thought it was interesting that 2 Sierra manuals ( 5th and 6th edition) would be different by over 5gr with the same load.
This is interesting....my Sierra edition V lists PP in the .454 Casull using their 240gr at 11.1gr to 15.5gr and specifically says not to load faster than 1400fps.
It didn’t even dawn on me to check .454 Casull data lol. The new Nosler book doesn’t have .460 or .454 Casull data either. I talked to a tech at Sierra a week ago about why there wasn’t any listing in their book. He said bc they don’t even want to test the .460 😳.
Actually no that sounds about right. According to Lymans 49th edition, their test firearm was a 10” Contender and 9.3 gr Unique with a 250gr bullet gave them 1027 FPS.
I’ve never had to lube cases with carbide dies except for .460S&W cases. I still believe that Imperial Die Wax is the best lube out there but Hornady One Shot is a ton easier and quicker.
I spoke to one of my customers who happens to be a criminal defense attorney about this subject a while ago. He told me it really depends upon the state and who the judge and prosecutor is. The way it was told to me that here in NYS since there are no “stand your ground” laws and the “castle...
Actually yes it is that simple. Just a propane torch and some water to cool it. There are machines out there but me personally I’m not about to spend $250-300 on one.
I know what you mean. Here in NY I haven’t seen reloading stuff at any Wally World. The guns they do have in the cabinets is all they have. Nothing in the back they get 1 in at a time and that could take months.
I’m sure that there are a lot of folks out there who will disagree with me but....I used to neck size thinking that accuracy would be better. I’ve found over the last few years that FL sizing is more consistent. In my rifles anyway FL sizing every time makes my round more consistent and gives me...
When changes were made, I don’t have the answer for that and from what I’m being told by local shops is that some rifle and pistol brass will become small primer and some won’t. I currently have around 5k pcs of varying calibers and I’d say almost 1/2 are small primer.
