    Sadly no. I believe it is an officer's badge number engraved into the gun. Someone engraved their initials into the sideplate, and an enterprising individual tried to remove them with a dremel tool. Heartbreaking if you ask me. Thankfully, I rescued this weapon and 600 rounds of vintage ammo...
