Thanks for the replies. I do understand the purpose of the ported compensator. The 4" model does not have an option without the compensator and I simply want an inset that is not ported. I am loading this back to around 1100 fps with a 400 grain WFN hard cast bullet. Recoil is not a problem...

Is S&W making and unported comp (I have a lead and jacketed bullet comp) for the 4" Model 500? I love the gun, but the muzzle blast is incredible with the ported comp.
