    Best Powder For 38 spl, 357, 44 mag, 9mm, 45acp, and 45 Colt?

AA #7 runs very well in 9mm Luger for me. It is my “go to” powder for practice 9x23 Winchester. Western Powders “Reloading and Load Data Guide Edition 5.0” has a ton of data for #7, and in many cases the difference between it and #9 is marginal. It’s not listed for normal 45 Colt, but is for...

    Best place to live?

The lunatics in Augusta were considering a bunch of anti-gun laws that might make Gavin Newsome blush and they did push through that garbage 3-day waiting period. Yes, that has been halted by a judge at least temporarily. Unless you buy from the 🤬 at the Cabelas in Scarborough.

    Best place to live?

25 years ago I might have suggested Maine. I moved back here in 2014 after simultaneous retirement and divorce. I cannot advise you strongly enough to stay away. The taxes are second only to California and the entire state government is insanely “progressive”. However, I’m the 3rd generation...

    K-38 date

I encourage you to join the Smith & Wesson Collectors’ Association. You can request the ship date (by month) for one revolver per week on our forum. It is a supplement, not a replacement for this forum. Plus there is a wealth of knowledge and good people.

    hammer spring replacement question

+1 on hammer and trigger shims for improving the action. As far as I know, the Wolff hammer springs are designed to work with a stock length strain screw. I have never had ignition problems. I have read that Wilson’s hammer springs are better than Wolff in terms of reliable ignition but...

    Are you a "gun slut"?

I have been telling my daughter that “there’s no such thing as a bad neighborhood - just bad people and they can go anywhere” for decades.

    Are you a "gun slut"?

I would like to be the “one gun/one holster” guy but that is not practical for me. My preferred carry pistol is a CCO format 1911 (Officer frame with 4” barrel) in 9x23 Winchester. I prefer to carry it OWB; however, most of the time it’s IWB or shoulder holster. Yes, a shoulder holster is a...

    624 value??

Model 624 serial number ALU66xx but the Lew Horton folks told me it was not one of theirs back in 2012 when I bought it for $700.00. Shipped June of 1986. Nice gun but the cylinder throats are a bit over-sized IIRC.

    1st Year Guns

Following your sound logic, this K-22 Outdoorsman that shipped in January of 1932 is a “first year gun”. It does have the single screw rear sight of the earliest version. It’s my understanding that the only K-22s shipped in 1931 went to the US Army for the 1932 Olympics. Please correct me...

    3 inch 66-2 rarer than 2/12 inch?

3” also has the advantage of a full length ejector rod. I only have 3” Model 66-2, 66-3 and 66-4. There were 3” 66-5s and possibly in the original Model 66 as well.

    1st Year Guns

OK I’ve been visiting my first granddaughter for the past week and didn’t have access to my register or SCS&W book. Here are my first year offerings: Registered Magnum #302 shipped 8/6/1935 Model 29-1 shipped 9/11/62 I don’t think my January 1932 K-22 Outdoorsman qualifies although SCS&W...

Adjusting trigger pull in S&W pocket revolvers

Smooth is best. My M&P 340 has an 8+ pound trigger pull. No one who has tried it believes me when I tell them that because it is so smooth, but the Lyman gauge doesn’t lie.

Keep as a shooter K22 Outdoorsman or trade as collectible?

This K-22 Outdoorsman shipped early in production in January of 1932

    27-2 8 3/8" Opinions

That is my favorite of your revolvers that I’ve seen too. Just stunning 😎 I have three ~8” revolvers but none are Model 27s.
