915 is an alloy frame 5906. It is a lot lighter. 915 does not necessarily fit 5906 holsters. Front of frame (dust cover) on the 915 is thicker than that on the 5906. FN9 holster fits it pretty well. 915 top end works on my 6906 if one wants the short grip but a 4" barrel. 915's single side...
Tysons Corner
Have a W Germany Sig P226 with the Tysons Corner import marking. It, too, has the mud rails. Never knew that was the name for the scallops.
Have a couple old 3rd gen pistols and like them. However, if Smith does start making them again, there are a few improvements that are sorely needed, at least in my view. The 5906 could be competitive in IDPA Stock Service Pistol if it had a mag well and an oversize mag release button. The...
Really like the 3rd gen pistols and have a couple -- 6906 and a 915. No complaints about either of them but I recently tried to find a good polymer belt holster. Good luck with that.
However, my polymer frame CZ P-07 is maybe a little lighter weight, in current production and aftermarket...
Marlin 9mm "Camp Rifle" magazines fit my 5906 and work well. The magazines are not as finished as S&W mags, but they hold more rounds. Maybe the mag purchased was the short version for the Marlin.
Sounds like any of these combinations will work and some are different looking in a good way. Looked at the lock up on both top ends closely yesterday evening. Everything appears identical except the barrel and guide rod lengths. The slidestop cross pins are the same diameter. As smoothly as...
How well does it work to take the complete top end off a Model 915 and put it on a Model 6906? I have one of both pistols, but I find the longer slide of the 915 easier to shoot accurately. Tried swapping top ends at the bench and there don't seem to be any problems with swapping them around...

I have a 5906 and like the pistol, but it would be nice if it were a little more accurate. Please do a post on what kind of accuracy you get in slow fire off the bench.
Went to the range today with the low shooting 5906, a TSW 5906, a 6906 and a Sig P6. All have fixed sights. Shot all pistols with Win White Box at 30'.
The TSW shot about 1" above point of aim. The 6906 shot to point of aim. The plain 5906 and Sig P6 shot about 3" below point of aim...
Recently purchased a nice looks like new all stainless 5906 with Novak fixed sights. Shooting 124gr handloads at what book says should be 1,020fps. Pistol cycles fine but shoots about 4 inches low at 35 feet. Is this common? Do hotter loads shoot higher?

Recently purchased a 5906 in excellent condition. Have only function fired it with a mag or two, but I really like the pistol. Now the shop I frequent has a 5906TSW in excellent condition on which I can make a good trade. My question is what are the differences between the regular 5906 and...
