1.) Make sure the firearm is adaquetly lubed.
2.) You mention your friend has an identical model try to use his magazines in your firearm.
3.)Make sure your thumb isn't pushing up on the slide release causing it to lock the slide back inadvertently.
No need to worry it's more than likely your finger placement :) with my shield if I grip too high up under the slide release it would lock the slide back and if I gripped to high up tword the top it would prevent it from locking back. Also sometimes occasionally if a round was not seated...
In a general situation I never get asked that because I don't inform people that I do carry. However it hits a personal spot so I figure I will share my story.

Inform no one when it comes to your carry situation. From personal experience people talk, word gets out, and things are blown out of proportion. My firearm never leaves my side, and its no ones business.
Thank you everyone for your advice, I took it to another gunsmith to look it over, and I viewed multiple youtube videos closely inspecting each shield and they seem to have the same wear on the backstrap of the slide. I oiled the rails a bit more as well as the trigger spring and the reset...
