Welcome to the forums!!! :D 1.) Make sure the firearm is adaquetly lubed. 2.) You mention your friend has an identical model try to use his magazines in your firearm. 3.)Make sure your thumb isn't pushing up on the slide release causing it to lock the slide back inadvertently.

I agree with Bob O, it deffinitly looks like its riding a bit high. If that slides off track that will surely lock it back.

No need to worry it's more than likely your finger placement :) with my shield if I grip too high up under the slide release it would lock the slide back and if I gripped to high up tword the top it would prevent it from locking back. Also sometimes occasionally if a round was not seated...

From the pictures it looks like one side of the slide may have came slightly off track, can you post a closer picture of that slide release lever?

In a general situation I never get asked that because I don't inform people that I do carry. However it hits a personal spot so I figure I will share my story. We all watch the news and hear about terrible tragedies. More often than not we NEVER think we would find ourself in those situations...

I payed $485 tax included for my Shield .40, seems a bit overpriced but I'm happy with it. :)

Inform no one when it comes to your carry situation. From personal experience people talk, word gets out, and things are blown out of proportion. My firearm never leaves my side, and its no ones business.

Thank you everyone for your advice, I took it to another gunsmith to look it over, and I viewed multiple youtube videos closely inspecting each shield and they seem to have the same wear on the backstrap of the slide. I oiled the rails a bit more as well as the trigger spring and the reset...
