I'm no expert, but I believe the 4006 was one of those hits that manufacturers strive for and rarely achieve. It's terrific debut is what drove Glock to hurriedly prepare a 40S&W of their own. And as the OP alludes to, Glock's first effort did not go smoothly. People say they are tank...

I have two Uncle Mike's open top RH kydex holsters model 5318-1. One is new and the other was used for one IDPA match. The packaging for the new one states it fits "5900 and certain 4006 models". I can tell you they work just fine for plain jane 1990's vintage 4006's. They also worked just fine...

I had both a 220R and a 4566TSW. Both very fine. I traded the 220R for something else. In time, I realized I couldn't get the accuracy out of the 4566TSW that I readily got of the 220R. I suspect it had something to do with the 4566TSW just not "fitting" my hand as well, though other factors...
