    Solar Power Opinons?

Solar panels come in three basic TYPES : Amphoras, Multi-crystalline, and Mono-crystalline. The types are different in efficiency, and price. The Amphorus are NOT as efficient but are less expensive and work better than the others in low-light conditions. The Mono's are more expensive and more...

    Solar Panels..Anybody use them?

I have a 10' X 10' shed outside (workroom) that I have installed a small solar panel on the roof. I have 110 lights and plug-ins, but use the 12v. (stop lights) for light after-hours. The panel keeps the car battery and the two lawn mower batteries well charged. I also have a car radio, and a CB...

    Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation

Quite a few years ago, I got a Manufacture date + the person that bought it - a #2 HE .44 Spl w/ 6.5" barrel and adjustable rear sight. My Dad bought it ( I believe) from the original purchasers widow, and it was "handed down" to me. I have lost that piece of paper and would like to know if I...

    sentence laws ??

With all the hype and hysteria about MORE gun laws, I'd like to suggest a "NEW" topic. MANDANTORY (no parole) sentences for crimes involving a gun. This would be in addition to the crime itself. There used to be a mandantory 5-year sentence for a crime involving a firearm, but you never hear...

    To Re-Load or Not???

Have been reloading for decades. (OLD GOAT / retired) I inherited my press, scale and powder funnel. I have an old RCBS single stage. I reload for .303 British and .44 Spl, and have the dies for 9mm. It's cheaper here to go to the store for 9mm, but the rest is cheaper to load for my own use / I...

Your Advice About .44 Special Brass

I'd use the Spl brass for target shooting. The Magnum will handle the Magnum and Special rounds. The Special loads will be gentler to shoot. If you do much target shooting, the Special is less $$ to reload and/or buy.

    Hunting pistol

To each their own - I use an old #2 HE in .44 Spl and 6.5" with 240 gr HP shells for hunting. At close range (compared to a rifle) it has taken whitetail and a couple rabbits. (> shot placement is preferred<) The .44 Spl is/was a rifle cartrige.

Removing finish from an old stock

Some "old school" guys have used a steam iron to remove a finish. The stock will probably need a light sanding after. I would not use any sander unless you want to remove wood.

Six Year Old Marshall Holds Off A Lynch Mob

During my Senior year in High School, Mom took me to school a few times with a hunting rifle. The barrel was 'turned down' on the lathe to make it smooth annd shiny. Then blued in the tank over the forge. The stock was 'sporterized' or replaced in wood shop. One project made two good grades.

Six Year Old Marshall Holds Off A Lynch Mob

Understood... I can recall - most of us has a pocket knife of sorts (girls too) when I went to school. My grandkids are familiar with guns and such, and know NOT to take anything that can be used as a weapon from home for "show and tell". Funny how the school cafeteria has lots of weapons.:)

.357 No good in snubbies? apparently all handgun rounds the same?

leviathon - I shoot ( amung others) an old .44 Spl (HE) with reloads. I load 240 gr semiwadcutter for target and hollowpoint ( Black Talons) for hunting and home defense. The "cutters are loaded down for ease of shooting by myself and others <starting at age 11]. The 'Talons were purchased @ a...

    Surprise! K22 Outshot My M41

My Dad had a K-22 and a .44 HE No.2. I have the old .44. I'm guessing my brother has the .22. The last time I saw it, there were black plastic grips with small raised violets on it. Just for curiosity, I'd like to know where the "violet" grips came from.

    2400 Powder - What's it good for?

I have an old inheirited .44 HE #2 that Dad had. He was using 2400 in it reloading, so kept it that way. I use a 240 gr. cast SWC for practice and 240 gr. SJHP for hunting and home defense. The cast bullets shoot like a .38 or .357 and the semi-jacket bullets let you know it's ALL 44 and NOTHING...

    44 SPL - LSWC 240 Speer - good powder

MUCH INTERESTING LITERATURE HERE.... I reload the old fashioned way = powder scale + single stage press. I have a "Draftsmans lights" that can be moved over 3' to any place on my work bench ( from where they are mounted on a shelf ) I also use an old ink-stamp pad with case lube in/on it to...

    Loads for my .44 special...

Nice Pic. What range / distance ? I prefer 240 gr bullets. I use SWC for target and SJHP (Black Talons ) for home defense and hunting. Have been using 2400 powder with light charges for target and UNDER max load for hunting. Target shooting, it handles like a .38, but hunting loads say...
