This is a little bit off the message, but does anyone know if modifications were made to either the 657s or the 686's to enhance their strength or performance. If so how can a person tell which models have this package. Thanks in advance for your response.
Endurance Upgrade
I am a new member of the Smith and Wesson Forum, and the articles on the Endurance Package have caught my eye as I have a couple of Model 629s. One is a -2 and the other is a -5. Can I tell by the dash number if these guns have the endurance package?

I called Smith and Wesson last week concerning the same issue about a Model 657 SS Classic Hunter with a non flutted cylinder that I have. They spent some time with the serial number and confirmed that it was a Lew Horton.
