These were made by W. R Grace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A good friend of mine was a machine operator and gave me one in 1969 or 1970. Was to carry 4 boxes of shotgun shell.

I found this on EBAY. The holster does not have a manufacturers mark but does have a DS marking, (DETECTIVE SPECIAL?). A S&W K frame 3 inch fits nicely.

I bought the grips adaptor with the reduced width magna grips included.

I had a postwar 22 Masterpiece shipped January 1955.I shot it about the same as my pre war 22 Outdoorsman. The 22 Outdoorsman had a better trigger than the post war. Letters thru SWHF showed the owner sent it back to S&W because he thought the trigger pull could be better.

Smith and Wesson model 68 with John Hurst grips.

I shot the gun with plus P rounds, the seam at the back of the grips bit the web of my hand. Replaced the plastic grips with Pachmayrs.

I stopped at a local shop Saturday and found this Taurus model 85 5 shot 38 special. The gun was clean, inside dry, lubed with Lucas oil. Will shoot it later this week. Not sure how I will like hard plastic grips.

The one I showed serial number R57306. Was as new I didn't want to shoot it so I sold it several years ago.

I think these were done for John Jovino New York City. Some thing like 170 produced but parts hung around S&W for a while. You might want to quiz DR.Jinks about these.

Due to the narrow grip frame finding grips for model 12s is hard. I tried a set of pre war service grips from Thailand with a grip spacer. The width of the service grips fills my hand and the grip spacer helps hold the gun.
