Which 66 (No Dash) is the better gun?

I’m not at home, visiting with grandkids. If I recall, not sure which, 4” or 6”, serials start 43K and 18k. Are yours similar? I’ll confirm in a few days upon my return. Best of Luck with them!

Which 66 (No Dash) is the better gun?

Like you stated the model 66's were in demand due to Fed and local LE orders during the mid seventies. I was working at Jovino's in NYC and was a constable on Long Island also. I wanted a 4" 66 and none were to be had and we were freaking S&W distributors. Lou Imperato (RIP) owned Jovino's...

Which 66 (No Dash) is the better gun?

Hmmm…looks just like my 66-1, which is all original. The front sights weren’t pinned back then, like they are on today’s guns. Also early 66’s had stainless rear sights with a plain black or black with a white outlined blade. All 66 number two needs, is a new hammer to restore it cosmetically...

    SW1911TA Issues

My 1911PD had a consistent hammer follow thru condition, among others. Five trips back to S&W failed to address the problem. I finally traded it for a SA RONIN in 9mm. Still wanting a LW 45, I was able to find a LW COLT commander to fill the gap. S&W makes fine firearms, but their entry into the...

    SR 71

So true. The YF-12’s and SR-71’s were built in a time of slide rules and no real computers. Do any of us truly believe its replacement or replacements are not out there flying in some way, shape or form? Satellites can only do so much, limited to their orbit patterns, so the excuse that they...

Snagged an NYPD Ruger Service Six

Thanks, good to know my Ruger’s quadrupled in value. My grandkids will be the ultimate benefactors. 👍

Snagged an NYPD Ruger Service Six

Can Inask, what did you pay for it? New out the door from the NYPD equipment section they were $167. I have a 4” in blue and one in stainless and two speed sixes to match in Blue and a stainless. My model 10 was $151 bucks.

Speed Loader for BG 2.0 Mags ?

I’m going to disassemble my mags tomorrow. Every so often the follower binds with just 2 or 3 rounds loaded. Loader doesn’t help. Remove a round and second time around you can then load. It does get hard to load the last 2 rounds with the loaded, unable to do it by hand. Still hard even after...

    How long before FPC….

Since the mid ‘70’s, I’ve mostly carried a 1911 everyday, exception being my time “On the Job” where revolvers ruled, until semi autos were approved. Then it was S&W 5946 and GLOCK 19. Retired and back to the 1911’s, for the most part. Capacity, especially when I was off duty and now retired...

    How long before FPC….

I don’t discriminate, own GLOCKS, SMITHS, RUGERS, etc. The FPC is a nice firearm. S&W would sell a lot more if they had magazine compatibility, IMHO.

    How long before FPC….

Not sure what the S&W 23 round mags cost, but I can and have bought 17 rounders for $22-26 bucks. A 33 OEM mag would be nice, but don’t see Smith having one. All that said, the KelTec Sub 2000, Gen 3, just hit the market and IMHO is a game changer. With the rotating bbl, you no longer require...

    How long before FPC….

No Issue. I’ve got an M&P FS and a dozen magazines, but I like the idea of using 33 round Glock mags also.

    How long before FPC….

With FLEXMAG? I would think this would be the natural progression of this rifle. It’s the only reason I haven’t purchased one. Now that KelTec has the Gen 3, sub 2000 with rotating bbl, so optics and flashlights can be mounted with out an offset, S&W needs to step up with a FPC with FLEXMAG.
