    What did I just buy???

The barrel on the round butt 1912 vintage revolver appears to have been replaced, along with the ejector rod. It has the later style "&" between Smith & Wesson on the barrel (compare it to the Victory Model) and the rod is straight, with no cutout on the underside of the barrel for the larger...

    converting a 25-5 to .45ACP

A minor point In my original reply, I mentioned using a cylinder of comparable length instead of a .45 Colt cylinder. While either will work, a smaller caliber cylinder can be bored so that ACP cases can be fired in it without clips, as can be done in your 25-2. If a .45 Colt cylinder is...

    converting a 25-5 to .45ACP

I don't think this will work. If the cylinder will close with .45 ACP rounds in a clip or with .45 Auto Rim cases, there will be too much head space to work with .45 Colt in the same cylinder. You could have a second .45 Colt (or comparable length) cylinder altered to ACP/Auto Rim and make...

    ***

You train religiously with your firearm but "rarely think of it as being there" when interacting with another armed person, in this case a Law Enforcement Officer, and you consider HIS actions a little reckless?? Two other things you say give me pause: "Him being a LEO I hesitated" and "but...

    Model 13-2 FBI

3" Model 65 P&R I have a 3" Model 65-2 that is pinned and recessed also. I bought it new in October of 1981 and still carry it occasionally. It's a very versatile revolver. Ironically, after I bought it, I sold the 3" Model 13-2 that I had, which was also pinned and recessed.

OOPS, was going by what the original poster said: "On the right side of the frame, under the cylinder is a stamp VEGA SA CA."

Removing Lead Build-Up From Blue Finish

I've had good results with a product called Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner or a similar product sold by Brownells as their Stainless Steel Sponge.

    Victory questions

Good info. So there was a company called "Lockheed" and one called "Vega," but there was no company named "Lockheed Vega." That term refers to the aircraft. I guess it's confusing that Vega didn't build the Vega, but was named for it, and then another company named Vega imported Victory...

    Victory questions

Lockheed Vega The Vega was a high-wing monoplane built by Lockheed Aircraft Limited starting in 1928. Vega was not part of the company's name, as Martin was in the later Lockheed-Martin. Amelia Earhart and Wiley Post both flew Vegas at one time. Here's a link to a picture of Post's Vega...

    3-inch Barrel $$ Madness!

3" Model 65 I have one, too, and when I looked at the sales receipt, it's hard to believe I bought it almost 29 years ago. It's a 65-2, pinned and recessed, that has been my most versatile carry gun for all those many years.

    FRP marked DA .38

Bump Anyone have a recent edition of Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson who could check and see if this marking has been determined in a more recent edition. My copy is some years old. Thanks in advance, Tom

    CCW and dress clothes ?

Try a pair of Bill's Khakis. They cost a bit more than most, but they wear like iron and will last for years The pockets are deep and large enough to carry a 3" S&W Model 65 or a Glock 23 if need be. A J frame or Detective Special in a pocket holster virtually disappears in these full-cut pants.

    FRP marked DA .38

Thanks for the response. We've gone through the deductive process as you note and have an idea, but I was wondering if a later edition of Supica and Nahas has any more information than mine does, that is there were 125 so marked, but it's not known why.

    FRP marked DA .38

I have an acquaintance who has a 4th Model .38 Doble Action that is marked "FRP 106." It belonged to his Grandfather. In my edition of the Standard Catalog, which is several years old, there is reference to 125 revolvers so marked that were apparently sent to a dealer/distributor in Boston...
