I am in agreement totally on that one. The gun show scalpers pull out the blue book when trading or buying and twenty minutes later you walk by the same isle and the same gun is priced $150 more. Go figure. JMO
I am considering possibly selling my blued model 18, no dash made circa 1961 in very good shape. Given the current political situation what do you think a fair price might be?
Thanks for any input vickersmaster303:)
If I did want to replace it though does the frame pin drift out fairly easy to remove the bushing etc. Appreciate your opinion. Thanks, vickersmaster 303
Yes, certainly I can do that I have the spring. The question is though, there is some wear on the firing pin the nose is not rounded but a little flat. Changing it would not hurt anything and would give another .001 protrusion or so which can't hurt for ignition. Thanks for your reply.
Q: The firing pin on my Smith 18 22lr is frame mounted. The absolute protrusion through the frame is about .030. The thing is the nose is getting a little flat and with the reduced power Wolf mainspring I'm getting a few misfires DA only. Just punch out the roll pin on the frame and remove the...
This gun looks like it came out of the box compaired to the one I received. The one they sent me was under 50%. Nice pic you did a nice clean up job on this piece. vickersmaster303
Shot a Model 18 no dash made in 1961 with the checkered diamond grips yesterday. I picked up the gun recently. The gun shoots fine perfect ejection, ignition etc. However, the action seems to be on the tight side. Single action kind of hard to thumbback the hammer. There is very little cyl end...
Q: Has anyone accurized any or all of these guns. What exactly was involved and what was done, ie frame tightening, bushings etc? I completley stripped a just aquired model 659, internals look unfired but the gun displayed that definite fails the "shake" test ...and seems to have a lot of run...
Q: I picked up a very nice 659 at my LGS. I was able to fieldstrip before buying. The guns internals looked to be possibly not fired. No wear anywhere I could see on guide rod, barrel hood, frame. Tight lock at the locking lug and slide mortise etc. The only thing, there seems to be a bit of a...
