I bought one in March of 2011 new in the box, and love this little pistol. I was amazed how well it shot and how accurate it was for such a small gun. I haven't put a lot of rounds through it, but it has never given me a problem. Normally, I carry a Kahr PM45, but the CS does get some carrying time.
I have both the 457S and a CS45. I also have six other 45's, 2 SIGs, and an HK, SA, STI, and Kimber, everyone of which was more expensive. If I have a 45 on my hip or in a carry jacket, nine times out of ten, it will be a S&W.
I had a 4586, 4563, and 4043 but they were stolen some months ago. I replaced them with the two shown, that I found NIB at a small dealer in MA. They are a 457S and CS45.
I bought mine from Mark at Summit last fall for $280 with NS's and two mags. He's great to deal with. The gun was in very good condition and the sights were fairly bright, but I didn't like the DA trigger.
I'm with you on the metal 3rd gen S&W's. I had a 4043, 4586, and 4563 stolen in February. I wasn't crazy about the DA trigger on the 4043, but I'd love to get the other two back. Meanwhile I still have a 457S and a CS45 that I found NIB six months ago. Both are 06 builds and make good OWB carry...
I had a 45c and it was one of my most accurate pistols, but it was stolen in February. In March when it was time to replace the 45c, I was fortunate that my LGS had both the 40c and 45c in stock and I could compare them side by side. Since this is primarily a CC gun, I chose the 40c for it's...
I bought a brand new 457S last month along with a new CS45. So far I have less than 200 rounds through each, but they are just as boringly dependable as all the 3rd gens I have owned. Accurate too, even the 3 1/4 inch CS.
I'm having the same problem with an ex-CHiPs 4043 I picked up last month. After about 100 rounds I was using my weak hand trigger finger to help pull the trigger. It didn't effect my accuracy much but made for an interesting grip. I'll try to get some of my Miltec-1 on the bar and contact points...
Good to hear. I was trying to replace my 3rd gen S&W's after a burglary last month and found a brand new CS45 and 457S in a little gun shop in MA. I had to pay about $600 each but I was glad to find them. I took the 457S to the range last week and fired 175 rounds of mixed ball and HP without a...
It wouldn't hurt my feelings. I had an 4586 until it was stolen last August. It was large and heavy, but was a fine shooter and range gun. A month ago I decided my 1911 collection was complete, so I started looking for 3rd gen S&W's with alloy frames. I bought a 4043 that functioned well [don't...
Well my M&P is a compact 45 as are all my guns except the LCP, but but I shoot almost any pistol better than a Glock. It just so happens that the M&P is my most accurate pistol other than my 1911's.
